My organisation requires a reporting tool. We have CR8.5 as part of the MapInfo package, but nobody knows how to use it and local training courses are all in 2008 or 2011. What I need help with is working out whether to try and get someone to tailor a training package for 8.5 for us, or whether to upgrade to 2008 or 2011 instead.
We run 4 internal relational databases, operating in the fishing industry, and we need reporting for catch statistics, demographics, compliance and evidentiary purposes, as well as general industry analyses. We previously used Oracle Query Builder software, but we are undergoing a redevelopment of our systems and, as an unsupported package, QB will soon be switched off for good.
With a complete absence in our reporting skillbase, this is the perfect time to ensure we select the right tool, which we can then get people trained up in. Ideally, I need someone to tell me which version of CR represents best value for money, and what the main differences are between the versions.
I hope someone can offer some advice, or at least point me in the right direction.
