how to display data in horizontal way.

i want to display my date data in a horizontal way like this

Name\Date          1/1/2013        2/1/2013        3/1/2013

Emp1                      shift1             shift2              shift3 

Emp2                      shift3             shift1              shift2

Emp3                      shift1             shift3              shift2

how i have to formate my db fields and what to do to let it be like this.

please help me that is very important.
