I am using Visual Studio 2013 with the SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio. I am new to working with Crystal Reports, and have only explored the designer. I haven't tried using the C# libraries and coding it that way, but I
am open to suggestions either way if it is not possible through the designer.
I have a crystal report design that I seek to improve in order to reduce the amount of label paper wasted and increase label utilization.
The current design is printed on 1"x4" address label paper (2 columns 10 rows). Only the right column is pulled to be placed on a bag of material, the left column has some identifying information about the item and is left for notes for the auditor such as
unexpected material shortages. It has been decided that the left column is necessary and must remain, so I want to try adding another column to double utilization.
The new design would be printed on 1"x2.625" address label paper (3 columns 10 rows). The first column would be split into two columns for the audit info and the next two columns would have the item labels to pull.
It seems like in order to achieve this, I need to have two detail sections, but I have learned that is not possible. I wonder if it is possible to utilize subreports to achieve this result, but I have not had any luck. The rows would need to all line up and fit the label dimensions of the address label paper.
I would appreciate any insight or suggestions.
